With cold weather moving in for the season paying for heat may become a concern for some Dallas County residents.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to help both renters and homeowners who meet certain income criteria.
The LIHEAP program will pay a portion of your eating bill for the winter season which includes electric, natural gas or propane. The program will not cover businesses or non-residential structures such as garages or shops.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions appointments are being held over the phone this year. After you apply be sure to continue to pay your energy bill until assistance is approved.
To apply in Dallas County call New Hope Opportunities at 515-465-5185 or you can download the application here. You must provide proof of household income, your most recent heat and electric bills, and a copy of each household member’s social security card.
