Friday night’s season opening girl/boy basketball doubleheader at Boone resulted in a pair of losses for the Perry teams. Boone won 71-20 in the girls’ game and 70-23 in the boys. Turnovers were an issue in both contests as the Jayettes unofficially had 26 turnovers to only nine for the Toreadors and the Blue Jays unofficially turned the ball over 30 times to 16 for Boone.

Lydia Olejniczak had nine points and Jayna Kenney for the Jayettes. Boone had five players score in double figures with 17 off the bench for Emmy Lewis, including five of Boone’s 10 three-point goals. Emily Ades had 14 points with 12 apiece for Morgan Kathman and Emma Dighton. Natalee Danner added 10 points. The Toreadors led 28-9 after one quarter and went on from there.

The boys from Boone were up just 11-4 after one quarter, then built the advantage to 41-14 at the half. Tate Sandvig had 15 points and Evan Behn 12 for Boone. June Rey Riesberg had seven points and four others three each to lead the Blue Jays.

The games were heard on KDLS 1310 AM and 99.7 FM. Perry is at home Dec. 8 with Carlisle.
