Now that elections are done local politicians are looking ahead towards their next sessions.
Recently re-elected state senator for District 10 Jake Chapman may have a new title as senate president but that doesn’t mean he can’t offer a little insight on what preparing for sessions looks like ahead of the January 11th start date for the upcoming Iowa legislative session.
Chapman says now that the election is over it’s the time to focus on drafting the legislation, putting forth the agenda, and holding meetings that will shape what the session will look like. While there is much to do in the coming months Chapman is excited about the session.
“I’m confident that it is going to be a very exciting, fun session. With a lot of good pieces of legislation, I think passed that are really going to have a positive impact on Iowans and their everyday lives.”
The 89th Iowa General Assembly is set to begin on January 11th, 2021.
