The Greene County Departments are asking the public to donate winter items for children in need.

A holiday tree is located in the east room of the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson and people are asked to hang newly purchased winter hats and mittens. These items will then be given to the Greene County School District, Greene County New Opportunities and the Greene County Action Resource Center (ARC) to distribute to area youth in need this winter season.

Donations will be accepted through the end of the year. Donations can be left hung on the tree whenever the courthouse is open.
