Paton-Churdan plays a season opening girl/boy basketball doubleheader tonight in Westside vs. Ar-We-Va. Not only do the games mark the start of the 2020-21 season, but they are also the first Rolling Valley Activities Conference games. P-C is coming off a 15-9 girls’ season with everyone returning. The P-C boys won five games a season ago, which was up from the previous campaign.
Bud Fagen coaches the boys and Tom Kennedy is the girls’ head coach. Coach Kennedy was asked by Raccoon Valley Radio to name a couple of things he’d like to see from his squad if they are to improve on the record of last season. “I think we need to cut down on our turnovers, so we’ve really been working on ball handling. I’d also like to see us improve defensively and limit the number of shots the other team takes. If we can show improvement in those two areas, I think we can improve our record from a year ago.”
The home season for P-C begins in Churdan this Friday night with a girl/boy doubleheader vs. Glidden-Ralston.
