Those living in Dexter, Stuart, Menlo, Casey, and Adair are invited to make their homes or businesses shine bright for a holiday lights contest hosted by the White Pole Road Development Corporation.

Executive Director Tom Smull says as there hasn’t been much going on for the state scenic byway this year with the cancellation of the marathon garage sale event, they’ve decided to bring back this contest from a few years ago to bring some visitors’ attention to the corridor, “Both people that live in the communities along the road but also hopefully we’ll pull some people from outside the White Pole Road corridor maybe get some people from West Des Moines to come out if we get enough decoration and enough awareness, we think that it can draw even more people and then they can spend money in our businesses, eat at our restaurants, and enjoy our communities.”

Those wanting to participate are encouraged to take a photo of their display and tag @WhitePoleRoad on Facebook, and judging will be held during the week of December 6th. The winners will be notified on December 14th, with first place receiving a $50 gift certificate from Pioneers Pub & Grub in Casey, second place winning a $35 gift certificate from Zipp’s Pizzaria in Adair, and third place winning a $25 gift certificate to Pioneers Pub & Grub.
