The Jefferson Rotary Club recently announced it’s total from the 22nd Annual Charity Auction.
Auction Chair Travis Dvorak says they raised over $30,000 between the online-only auction, as well as additional financial support from the businesses and organizations in the county. There were over 100 auction items, including four trips. The two trips that raised the most money were a week stay in a condo in Maui, Hawaii for $2,600 and a week stay at the Alabama Gulf Tours for $2,100. Jefferson Rotary also held a Facebook Live event with five $250 cash raffle prizes, and the winners were: Karen Perkins, John Bossard, Henry Spencer, Jonathan Law and Chris Heisterkamp.
Dvorak appreciates the continued support, even during a pandemic.
“We didn’t know what to expect in a year like this. We didn’t know how people would react, we didn’t know if people would be interested, we didn’t know what kind of donations (were) out there, because this pandemic has affected so many people in so many ways. I’m pleasantly surprised. I had no expectations because I had no idea what was going to go on. But we did follow the general blueprint we do for live auctions. By God, people are stepping up left and right, Jeffersonians and Greene County people, and Iowans in general are just stepping up and I think it’s great.”
Dvorak reminds everyone that the majority of the proceeds are going to the Greene County Animal Facility project. Other proceeds will be given to other local projects and organizations, as well as Rotary International.
