A new Greene County promotion not only supports local businesses, but also gives extra cash for people to spend this holiday season.
The “Greene County Dare to Care Challenge” is accepting monetary donations for the rest of this week, with a goal of raising $5,000. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Retail Revamped Committee member Bonnie Silbaugh explains the details of the challenge.
“That is a drawing weekly for up to $200 of money, Chamber Checks. It cashes just like any other checks that you can go spend money on, just by signing up for a drawing while you’re shopping. And that includes shopping on a live sale. So if you buy something on a live sale, you’re entered into that drawing too.”
Mike Holden with Moo Meat made an initial $200 donation and wants to see any business, organization, or individual match that donation. However, any amount will also be accepted. The more donations that are made, the more $200 winners can be announced. The weekly drawings will be held every Tuesday at 10am on the Main Street and Chamber Facebook page.
The deadline to make a donation is by Friday, December 4th. To donate, contact the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155 or Office Coordinator Beth Vander Wilt via email: beth@greenecountyiowa.com.
