Heads up for motorists traveling along the Highway 30 corridor through Greene County, a law enforcement campaign is happening tomorrow.

District 4 Iowa State Patrol Resource Officer Shelby McCreedy tells Raccoon Valley Radio additional state troopers and local law enforcement will be on Highway 30 in Greene, Carroll and Crawford counties tomorrow as part of the state patrol’s “2020 SIDE With Us” campaign. McCreedy says SIDE stands for Seatbelt, Impairment, Distraction and Excessive Speed. She notes that is what law enforcement will be focusing their attention on tomorrow.

McCreedy points out the goal of the state patrol is to be under 300 traffic fatalities every year.

“We haven’t been under 300 fatalities on Iowa’s roadways since 1925. So it is a big goal that we work hard everyday to try and reduce traffic crashes that lead to injuries and fatalities. But we believe this enforcement and this incentive for this year has been very effective.”

McCreedy stresses motorists to continue to watch their speed and abide by all traffic laws to ensure better safety on the roadways.
