Due to COVID-19 concerns, two grocery store chains have made adjustments to their shopping hours.
Hy-Vee Corporate has reinstated its reserved shopping hour for higher risk individuals for contracting COVID-19. From 7-8am, Monday-Friday, individuals who are 65 and older, pregnant women, and those with underlying health conditions are allowed to shop during the reserved hour. Hy-Vee officials ask the public to respect that one hour of shopping time for those individuals to better protect them from COVID-19. The changes are in effect until further notice.
Fareway has also responded in kind. Starting Friday, from 8-9am customers who are 65 and older, pregnant women and those with a serious or underlying medical condition may shop during the reserved hour time slot. Also starting Friday, all Fareway stores will be open from 8am-7pm. The early closure will allow for additional time to clean and sanitize the stores. When the changes begin on Friday, they will be in effect until further notice.
