The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors approved to participate in a broadband study during Tuesday’s meeting.
Midwest Partnership Economic Development Corporation Director Sarah Gomez introduced Mike Colwell of Greater Des Moines Partnership, which represents a 10-county region including Guthrie and Adair. Colwell explained that Greater Des Moines is working with engineering consultant firm HR Green to do the broadband study for a contract amount of $338,940, with Greater Des Moines contributing $80,000 and the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization giving $40,000. The rest of the contract is divided among the 10 counties to be paid per capita, with Guthrie paying $2,934. Colwell said the next step will be for the County to choose a representative to serve on the steering committee.
