Greene County is set to start high school wrestling practice tomorrow after being delayed for nine days from the usual starting date due to the school district being on 100% virtual learning through today. The wrestlers already know where they’ve been assigned for the 2021 postseason by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams will be heading southeast to Woodward for a Class 2A Sectional and to Adel for their district. Sectional 2 is hosted on Saturday, Feb. 6 by Woodward-Granger and in addition to the Rams and the host Hawks, teams include ADM, Perry, Van Meter-Earlham, and Gilbert. The top two finishers at each weight class at Woodward move on to District 1 hosted by ADM on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Knoxville sectional combines with the Woodward sectional to form the district. Teams at Knoxville in addition to the host Panthers are Ballard (Huxley), Bondurant-Farrar, North Polk (Alleman), PCM (Monroe), and Saydel (Des Moines). The top two finishers in each weight at the district level advance to State competition in Des Moines.
