Guthrie County residents can now see how COVID-19 transmission differentiates by zipcode on the county’s dashboard.

Adair and Guthrie counties’ COVID-19 dashboard recently added a link where the 14-day average positivity percentage and positivity percentage overall is listed by zipcode countywide. As it was last updated on Sunday, the current highest 14-day positivity percentage is 33.3% in Coon Rapids, and the highest percentage overall is 28.4% in Jamaica. The lowest 14-day percentage is 15% in Bayard, and the lowest overall is 13.2% in Casey.

Guthrie County has added about 100 new cases in the last week, with 639 cases, 15 deaths, and a 22% positivity rate as of Wednesday. Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber hopes the recent data released will motivate residents to take social distancing more seriously in the coming weeks, “And I’m hoping that in Guthrie County we’ll see especially with the number of cases that we’ve been seeing with the number of hospitalizations that we’ve seen recently we’re hoping that people will take this seriously especially going into these family holiday times and help us to try and get these numbers down and provide a safer environment for the family gatherings that we want to have.”

Arber mentions that while he doesn’t want residents to cancel Thanksgiving plans entirely, he urges them to consider holding smaller gatherings and remember those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19 when making those plans. Other recommendations for holding a safer Thanksgiving can be found here.
