Drier conditions this year gave a drastic change of pace than the prior year for the Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department.
As the department limits their project load this winter to be prepared for snow and ice removal, County Engineer Josh Sebern looks back on the progress his employees made this year, “It was a very active year with the drought conditions, we didn’t lose days to weather. So we were able to keep things going and we were able to accomplish a lot with that which was needed after the previous year where we focused a lot of effort on the road surface and getting a lot of rock and gravel back out there after that terrible spring, so this year was needed.”
Projects this year included a box culvert replacement on Chestnut Road south of Coon Rapids, a reshaping and stabilization of Sage Trail, and pavement patching of Wagon Road.
