Time is running out for Perry businesses to apply for the new Modernization and Protection Grant.

The deadline for the grant put together by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, and the City of Perry is tomorrow. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they decided to give businesses an extra couple of weeks to apply for this new grant.

Pasutti says this encourages growth and adaptation to an ever changing economy, “It’s not just a relief program of what’s been lost and how we’re trying to regain that, but really how can we steady our foothold so that we’re still able to look forward despite any challenges that come forward. So we’re looking forward to seeing what kind of projects businesses have already started or are looking to start. Even if they have a past expense in March, throughout the summer, or if they’re planning on having a project, there is quite a range of eligibility.”

The Bock Family Foundation recently donated $7,000 to the program, which now has more than $43,000 worth of funding. Awards of $1,500 to $7,500 will be awarded to Perry businesses for projects that will help sustain their future or anything that will help modernize their infrastructure. Pasutti says other COVID-related grant programs are aimed at recuperating losses while this program is designed to encourage growth and adaptation to a fluid economy. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 18th.
