The Jefferson Rotary Club urges everyone to bid on their online auction.
Bidding is open from 9am Tuesday through 10pm Saturday, with over 100 items to choose from. Auction Chair Travis Dvorak says they were debating whether or not to host the auction, which because of the pandemic prevented them from having it in-person.
“Rotary has been doing the charity auction, this is the 22nd year. This money that we get goes to a lot of good causes. We felt, it’s a tough year, it’s hard to do an auction, it’s hard to raise money, it’s hard to ask for donations. But the needs that are out there are still out there, and might even be more important this year. So we felt that as Rotarians we still have a commitment to our community and that commitment shouldn’t stop, even in a pandemic. So we decided we had to do something.”
Dvorak notes that you have to register an account with the online vendor, 32auctions.com, but no banking information is required. He talks about an added feature to the auction with extended betting.
“You think you’ve got it and then somebody thinks they are going to sneak one in at two seconds before it closes, like on Ebay, you get a notification, you’ve got three minutes to respond. So there’s no more (of) people sneaking in and taking, or stealing it from you.”
Dvorak points out that the high bidder will receive an email notification if they are outbid. Auction winners can pick-up their items from the former Homestead Coffee and Bakery building in Jefferson on Sunday from 1-3pm or Monday from 5-7pm. Majority of the proceeds from the auction will go toward the Greene County Animal Facility project. Click the link below to see and bid on the auction items.
