The Perry Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations are investigating a death.

According to the Perry Police Department, officers responded to a welfare check of an individual in the 2700 block of Summer Meadows Drive in Perry at 9am Monday. The caller reported not seeing their neighbor or any activity inside the residence for at least one week. Officers were able to gain entry into the residence and found one deceased person.

The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny to perform an autopsy and determine the cause of death. At this time, Police Chief Eric Vaughn says preliminary results do not indicate foul play. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending family notification.
