Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District Representative-Elect weighs in on the highly contested U.S. Presidential election.
President Donald Trump has filed several lawsuits, alleging voter fraud and “illegal” ballots being counted. Republican Randy Feenstra was recently elected as the new U.S. House of Representative for the Fourth District and he comments on the lawsuits.
“What are the facts. Everything has to be fact-based, not subjective, but fact-based. And if there are facts, then they can move forward and go into the courts. But for each one of us, we’ve just got to make sure everything is fair.”
Feenstra gives his reaction to not having a clear presidential winner announced on election night.
“It just shows you that there is a quite a divide in this country of what people think, and it’s right down the middle in that sense. Even bigger than that, you can sort of look at where the division is, I mean east coast, west coast, versus middle America for the most part, if you look at the blue and red states.”
Feenstra adds that here in Iowa, there has been a discrepancy in the number of ballots and miscalculation of the Second Congressional District race, where the winner was called for both candidates on different days. However, Feenstra says he helped to ensure Iowa’s election system was kept secured with the passing of the voter identification legislation while he served in the Iowa Senate.
