Greene County New Opportunities and Adopt-A-Family are partnering together to assist families with food during the holiday season.

New Opportunities Coordinator Teresa Lansman says the Holiday Food Baskets is for Greene County households that are 200-percent below the poverty level that need additional food during the Christmas holiday, mainly for the holiday break from school. She points out about 160 families participated last year, which she believes this program is still needed in the County.

“The food source is just a huge relief from families. That’s something that we hate for every child to go hungry, much less any adult. It just makes for a difficult time. The love that you see when the families are picking up the baskets and the appreciation, is just so heartwarming.”

Monetary donations are accepted for this program and can be dropped off at Lansman’s office or with Sherry Graven at the Greene County Engineer’s Office in the Courthouse. The deadline to register is November 25th. Applications can be picked up from Lansman’s office or on the New Opportunities website by clicking the link below.
