Guthrie County’s unofficial election results show a voter turnout increase of about 5 percentage points from the 2016 election, as Iowa set a new voter turnout overall this year.

According to Tuesday’s results Guthrie County had 6,398 ballots cast out of 8,280 registered voters, equaling 77.27%. In the 2016 general election Guthrie had 5,816 ballots cast out of 8,046 registered voters, for 72.28% voter turnout. In 2012 Guthrie had 5,920 ballots cast out of 8,080 for 73.27%. Republicans presumably won all the contested Guthrie County races in Tuesday’s election, including County Auditor Dani Fink, District 5 Supervisor Mike Dickson, State House District 20 Representative Ray Sorensen, and District 10 State Senator Jake Chapman. The county’s results are unofficial until a canvassing by the Board of Supervisors.
