The Dallas Center – Grimes Fillies volleyball team was able to have a very successful 2020 season, as they were able to make state before falling to Cedar Rapids – Xavier in the quarterfinals on Monday.
The Fillies were able to end their season 17-5, and were really able to count on a hot streak during the end of the season that saw them playing some of their best volleyball of the year. After starting the season 1-3, there were probably some doubts of how good this team could be potentially. Those were squashed very quickly the rest of the year, as the Fillies were able to go on a great winning streak of thirteen and win 16 of their last 17 before they lost at state on Monday.
They also were the conference champions of the Little Hawkeye Conference, as they went undefeated in the regular season in a very difficult conference. The team was able to gel at the right time of the year as they played extremely well both offensively and defensively as well, and really found the right tune come playoff time as well, winning three straight to make it to Cedar Rapids.
Though they lost on Monday, the Fillies were able to put a great team on the court this year, and will hope to recreate success next season as well.
