The unofficial results for Greene County have been released.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s Office, the Republican Party candidates dominated every elected office race. Locally, all the contested County Supervisor races were won by the Republican incumbents, including Mick Burkett in District 1, John Muir in District 4 and Pete Bardole in District 5, each won by at least 70-percent of the votes. As for Iowa House District 47, Republican incumbent Phil Thompson defeated Democrat challenger Shelly Stotts with 69.28-percent of the Greene County vote. According to the Secretary of State’s election results webpage, Thompson will retain his seat in the Iowa House, having also won in Boone County.
Greene County voted for Republican Jesse Green for Iowa Senate District 24, as he defeated Democrat challenger Cynthia Paschen with 70.61-percent of the vote. He also leads Paschen with three of five counties reporting results.
Greene County voters chose Republican Randy Feenstra for the U.S. House Fourth Congressional District seat over Democrat J.D. Scholten with 61.33-percent of the votes. President Donald Trump won Greene County, as did Republican incumbent for U.S. Senate Joni Ernst. The two local races that were not contested, County Auditor and Sheriff, went to the incumbents Jane Heun and Jack Williams, respectively.
