With the winter sports season just a few weeks away, the stage is set for a breakout season from the Panorama girls basketball team.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette released their Class 2A Preseason Rankings for the 2020-21 season last winter. Panorama came in at the top spot after a 20-4 season last year. This Panthers team showed that they had all the pieces to compete at a high level right now as they were just one game away from the state tournament while racking up a dump-trucks worth of accolades. First-year Head Coach Kylee Boettcher was named WCAC Coach of The Year while their big three in Payton Beckman, Angel Poldberg, and Laci Rishel were named the first team. The trio each averaged over 10 points per game. Beckman was named first team unanimously after leading the conference and was among the top scorers in 2A with 18.9 points per game. All three are just juniors and will continue to tear up the conference for years to come.

Also worth noting is what’s sure to be an exciting matchup with WCAC foe Des Moines Christian who is also #1 in The Gazette’s Class 3A Rankings.
