A familiar face and team from Dallas County wrapped up the 2020 high school cross country season as state champions.

Adel-DeSoto-Minburn junior Nate Mueller broke away from the pack in the boys 3A race at the Lakeside Golf Course at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge Friday en route to his second consecutive first-place finish at the State Meet. In addition to boasting the individual boys winner in the race, Dallas County also yielded the team champion. Dallas Center-Grimes bested the rest of the pack with an overall place score of 87, 48 points ahead of the second place team. Mustang junior Aiden Ramsey was Class 3A’s next best runner finishing in second place overall.

On the girls side, the DCG team came in with a strong second place finish, with an overall place score of 88. The Fillies had two top-10 finishes individually in sophomore Kami Smith and senior Megan Sterbenz finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. ADM sophomore Geneva Timmerman and Perry junior Jaylene Karolus also ran in the girls race, finishing 7th and 64th, respectively.
