Tuesday night, the Dallas Center – Grimes Fillies were able to advance to the state volleyball tournament defeating Marion by the score of 27-25, 16-25, 25-21, 18-25, and 15-8. DCG and Marion went back and forth all night long, but the Fillies were able to play outstanding volleyball in the fifth set to get the win and advance to state as well.

One of the many keys to a DCG victory was their toughness, as every single time that Marion was able to make a run the Fillies were not fazed, as they were able to come back with a rally of their own even in times of uncertainty.

The Fillies are now 17-4 on the season while Marion will conclude their season with a 21-12 record.

The Fillies will have their first state game at the number eight seed taking on the top ranked Cedar Rapids – Xavier. The game will be played in Cedar Rapids on Monday with the start time to be at 3:00.
