More than a dozen student-athletes from Dallas County will be running at the Iowa High School Cross Country State Meet tomorrow.
The event will be at the Lakeside Golf Course at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge, with runners from Perry, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, and Dallas Center-Grimes taking part in the class 3A boys and girls races. The ADM boys qualified as a team with a second-place finish in state qualifiers. They also had two athletes advance individually, senior Nate Mueller and sophomore Geneva Timmerman.
Perry has one runner competing as junior Jaylene Karolus finished 12th in the class 3A girls qualifying run last week in Winterset. Finally, DCG will make up much of the field, as they qualified as a team for both the girls and boys races. Aidan Ramsey, Jacob Ewers, Tate McDermott, Jack Every, Jacob Storey, and Blake Croushore will be representing DCG on the boys side, and Kami Smith, Megan Sterbenz, and Miranda Muhlstein in the girls race.
To make it to state, runners had to finish in the top 15 of their qualifying meet, and teams had to finish in the top-three overall. Raccoon Valley Radio will be giving updates on all area runners throughout the meet. All Dallas County schools will be running in the Class 3A meet which starts at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow for the girls and 4 p.m. for the boys.
