Walter Herr, 98, of Greenfield passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle.

 

Private Immediate Family Funeral Services: Will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Fontanelle American Legion Carlson Post No. 247.   Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service.  The service will be livestreamed on the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Facebook Page.  The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.steenfunerals.com.

Open Visitation without the family present:  Will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Survivors:  He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Steve) McKibban of Greenfield; Paula (Jack) Bachhuber of Urbandale; Marcia (John) Plett of Gladbrook, and daughter-in-law, Virginia Herr of Greenfield; his grandchildren, Stephanie Fenster; Brian (Kristen) McKibban; Brock (Karlee) McKibban; Jason (Rami) Bachhuber; Nicole (Chris) Novak; Michael (Lindsay) Plett; Matthew (Kassaundra) Plett; Alyse (Daniel) Dreher; Rachel (Kelly) Hall and Susan (Dillon) McDowell; his great-grandchildren, Carson, Cade and Colby Fenster; Braydon, Leighton and Madison McKibban; Isla and Felix McKibban; Blake and Levi Novak; Ellis and Nev Bachhuber; Emerie Plett; Cora and Quinn Plett; Alexis and James Dreher and Dean and Mary Hall; sister-in-law Maxine Umbaugh, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
