ADM Tiger wrestling is just around the corner, and obviously there is a lot of excitement to get back out on the mat. The state of Iowa announced their wrestling protocols for the winter, as the sport will look relatively the same while a couple of changes as well.
Most of the things handed out by the IHSAA were recommended and not mandatory, as most were suggestions to help keep people safe. In practices, they are asking to consider assigning pods of no more than 4-5 to workout with daily, throughout the season, to help with contact tracing. They also are asking them to take breaks as well to wipe everything down.
They are asking teams to keep things to single or double duel meets only, which could potentially limit tournaments this year which is usually a staple to a wrestling schedule. They also recommend that they practice social distancing with the benches and that they do a big cleaning of the mats after every single use.
The first wrestling practice of the season will be scheduled for November 16th, as coaches and players look forward to get the chance to compete this year.
