The Guthrie Center City Council approved a resolution to add a few words to the resolution they passed in September for COVID-19 expense reimbursements.

City Administrator Laura Wolfe mentioned that this reimbursement will be for purchase of sanitation products. The Council then discussed resident Alan Kearney’s request to cut out the alley near his residence in the 600 block of North Street. Council member Garold Thomas recommended that they talk with Public Works Director Bob Secoy, “I think we just need to talk to Bob and move the main drive back over to the middle of the alley. It’s right up against the south side of the alley. I got over to the middle of the alley when I drove through there, and if I got in the middle I could turn and not hit the curb. But if I stayed in the tracks, I’m going to hit the curb, unless I went way over to the other side before I turned.”

The Council agreed to Thomas’ suggestion, noting that the already existing alley would likely need to be reshaped. The Council then received an update from Nuisance Officer Wes Clark, and decided to continue discussion with resident Chris Bunde about possible purchase of the City’s property at 701 North 5th Street. The Council also approved to set November 23rd as a bid opening date to sell 201 North 1st Street. A second change order for the bathhouse was tabled as no information was given to the Council.
