Halloween is coming up this weekend, and there are a number of communities in Greene County that have designated Beggars Nights.

The City of Churdan Beggars Night is Friday from 5-7pm. Families can also go to the Paton-Churdan School parking lot for a trunk or treat event from 5-6pm. Vehicles will be spread out and community members can participate by decorating their own vehicle and hand out candy.

The cities of Jefferson, Scranton and Paton have their respective Beggars Nights on Halloween, Saturday from 5-7pm. The City of Grand Junction is having a truck or treat event on Main Street from 5-6:30pm. Participating vehicles are to park every other space on the street and provide tables in front or behind their vehicle with individually wrapped treats for kids. The City of Rippey is having a trunk or treat event from 5:30-7:30pm Saturday. It will take place on Main Street near the library and participants are encouraged to sit near their vehicle to give out candy. The Friends of Rippey are also having a free-will donation packaged meal of pork loin sandwiches and chips, with all proceeds to benefit the town’s Sesquicentennial event for next year.

Greene County residents are reminded to only go to residences that have a porch light on.
