A reminder that today is National Drug Take Back Day and any unwanted or expired drugs can be dropped off at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jack Williams says items such as prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and controlled substances can be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office in Jefferson from 8am-4:30pm, with no questions asked. These items would then be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration to be destroyed. Items that won’t be accepted include needles and aerosol substances.

Williams adds, drug items can be submitted to the Sheriff’s Office year round, or they can also be dropped off at a receptacle inside the Greene County Medical Center.
