Area children will receive the Hollywood treatment at the Lakeside Village in Panora’s annual Halloween event.
Instead of having children trick-or-treat inside the assisted living facility, families are invited to parade down the outdoor walkway around the rear of the building, where they will receive candy in creative and socially distant methods from staff. They will then head to a “paparazzi” area that will be livestreamed so residents can either watch the costumed kids from their decks or on the village’s internal community channel inside. As the Lakeside Village has been dealt many challenges during the pandemic, Manager Amanda Creen says the residents and staff are excited for this event, “It wouldn’t be Halloween without our community coming to visit us. It’s always been such a big event here, hundreds of people every year, and so we want to make sure that we’re doing something.”
Kids will also be provided a grab-and-go free hot dog meal and a goodie bag before they leave. The Not-So-Spooky Socially Distanced Halloween Parade takes place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, October 30th at 2067 Highway 4 in Panora.
