Guthrie County residents are welcome to safely dispose of unwanted and expired medications tomorrow as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The Guthrie County Hospital Pharmacy in Guthrie Center will be accepting medications in their disposal receptacle from 7 a.m.-noon in effort to address this public safety and health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. A majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from a home medicine cabinet.
Items that the hospital’s pharmacy will accept include prescription and over-the-counter medications; medicated creams, ointments, and lotions; liquid medications, and pet medications. Their disposal service is also provided year round. You can find information on items they won’t accept here.
