As Halloween festivities are approaching, it’s important to take a few steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Both the cities of Adel and Perry have recently passed resolutions to allow Beggars Night festivities. Trick or treat is allowed from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 30th in Perry and Saturday, October 31st in Adel. Participating households should turn on porch lights, and masks are recommended by trick-or-treaters, guardians, and families giving away candy.

Another tradition is the yearly Spooktacular Trick-or-Treat walk in downtown Perry. Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio they’re putting a lot of thought into how to make this a safe event, “The plan is to host the Spooktacular Downtown Trick-or-Treat walk on Friday, October 30th from 4-6 p.m., just like we normally do with a couple of updates this year to do our best to keep everyone safe, also knowing it’s a choice for participation. If people don’t feel comfortable or they’re not feeling well, obviously we would encourage them to do the best for them and stay home. Looking at expanding our overall event footprint to space out those stops for trick-or-treating and really encouraging face masks and social distancing”

Willis Avenue from 1st to 3rd Street and 2nd Street from Otley to Pattee street will be closed to vehicles from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, October 30th.
