ADM's Nate Mueller
Several Dallas County schools took part in State Cross Country qualifying meets Thursday evening, and many athletes advanced to the big race to be held next week in Fort Dodge.
The Perry Cross Country team had one runner make it to State, with junior Jaylene Karolus finishing 12th in the class 3A girls qualifying run at Winterset. At that same location, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn boys qualified as a team with an overall finish of 2nd. They also had two athletes advance individually, including senior Nate Mueller, who finished first in the boys race, and sophomore Geneva Timmerman who finished first in the girls race. Finally, the Dallas Center-Grimes team qualified as a team on the strength of overall first-place finishes in both the boys and girls events. Six Mustangs finished in the top-15 including Aidan Ramsey, Jacob Ewers, Tate McDermott, Jack Every, Jacob Storey, and Blake Croushore. Three Fillies finished in the top-15 including Kami Smith, Megan Sterbenz, and Miranda Muhlstein.
In order to make it to State, runners had to finish in the top 15 of their qualifying meet, and teams had to finish in the top-three overall. The State Cross Country Meet will be held Friday, October 30th, and Saturday, October 31st at the Lakeside Golf Course at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge. Listen to Raccoon Valley Radio Sports for more.
