Though Main Street Guthrie Center and the Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce isn’t holding their Fall-O-Ween Festival event this year due to COVID-19 precautions, residents can still get in the Halloween spirit with a virtual costume contest.
Main Street Guthrie Center will be posting the contest as a Facebook event in the coming days where participants can submit pictures of themselves in their Halloween costumes, with judging and awards given out after October 31st. Main Street Director Dana Buster says there will also be judging for best pumpkin carving and face mask decorating, “So we’re looking forward to seeing everybody and their costumes, and everybody’s pumpkin carving skills and mask decorating skills, and being able to award out some prizes like Chamber bucks that people can spend downtown.”
Buster also reminds residents that they can also dress up for the City’s beggars night which will occur on Friday, October 30th from 5-6 p.m. downtown and 6-7 p.m. in the residential area.
