With strong winds today, several counties in Iowa are discouraged from burning materials.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Greene and Guthrie counties from 1-8pm. Additionally, the National Weather Service has Dallas County in an elevated fire danger today. A Red Flag Warning means there are critical fire weather conditions, including strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures. Wind speeds could be as high as 45 miles-per-hour and with Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties continuing to be in a drought, dry grass and crop fields could be easily caught on fire if there is burning that is taking place.
National Weather Service officials are discouraging open burning today.
