The Greene County boys’ cross-country team continued its best season in years with a third place finish among 10 teams on Thursday at the Saydel Eagles Invitational in Des Moines. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Rams had 112 points to 23 for first place North Polk (Alleman) and runner-up Des Moines Christian with 37. Interstate 35 (Truro) was fourth with 146, followed by Grandview Christian (Des Moines) 146, Van Meter 189, PCM (Monroe) 194, Saydel 204, Perry 221, and 228 for Ankeny Christian Academy.

Logan Woodruff was the top runner for the Rams. He finished 15th in 18:39 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Luis Velazco was 24th in 19:19, followed by Ethan Frederick, 25th, also in 19:19, Jayden Carstensen, 29th in 19:49, and Dakota Mobley, 32nd in 19:51.

Greene County had just three girls compete, not enough to qualify for a team score. Olivia Shannon was 46th in 25:59. Makala Kafer was 49th in 26:20, and Autumn Stevens, 63rd in 28:33.

The Rams return to Saydel on Monday, Oct. 12 for the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Coed Meet.
