Besides state and national election races, Guthrie County voters are reminded of the importance of voting for local contested elections, in this case, County Auditor.
Democrat Hans Erickson and Republican Dani Fink are running for the county official position. Erickson has been a resident of Panora since 2011 and has worked in financial services, including for Iowa Farm Bureau and as the deputy finance director for a state senate campaign. He shares why he chose to run for auditor, “Insurance has always been my passion and drive, but however service has always been where I find my purpose. So I want to make sure government’s accountable, I want to watch over taxpayer dollars and keep our elections secure.”
Fink has lived much of her life in the Guthrie County surrounding area, and in rural Guthrie for the last five years. She was appointed by the Board of Supervisors as County Auditor this past May following the previous auditor’s resignation, and has worked for the Auditor’s Office since 2017, previously serving as the Elections Deputy. Fink says serving as county auditor has long been her ambition, “So I chose to run in the primary earlier this spring because I saw a need for more structure within the office. The county auditor serves so many people and I know that’s something I can do because I’m doing the job now and I was in the office prior, doing the job then.”
Fink and Erickson will be considered in the November 3rd general election. You can hear interviews with each of them during our Meet the Candidates In-Depth News Magazine.
