A Clive man was given a no-contact order following an incident in July at a Perry apartment building.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Donald Leroy McChesney II pleaded guilty to assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. McChesney was initially charged with intimidation – assault with a deadly weapon with intent to injure or provoke fear or anger, a class C felony, as well as domestic abuse assault while displaying a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. McChesney was given a five-year no-contact order and ordered to pay $1,326 in fines, restitution, and court costs.
According to Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn, officers were called to an apartment located in the 800 block of 18th Street at around 12:30 a.m on July 8th. The female victim claimed that McChesney pointed a gun at her while they were in the apartment.
