Greene County ISU Extension is offering a couple of free online programs for those gardeners who want to save their summer produce to use later on.

The first program is called “Totally Tomatoes,” and the topics that will be covered include freezing or canning tomatoes using a boiling water bath or pressure canning method. The webinar will take place from 10-11am and 6-7pm tomorrow and Monday, October 12th from 10-11am and 7-8pm.

The second program is “All About Apples,” and Greene County Extension Director Lori Mannel describes what will be covered.

“How do you preserve those apples? Maybe you want to make applesauce or apple pie filling, whether you want to freeze them or maybe dry the apples safely at home, there’s a program for you.”

All About Apples will take place from 10-11am and 6-7pm Thursday, October 22nd and from 10-11am and 7-8pm Wednesday, October 28th. Both programs are free and open to the public. Contact the Extension office in Jefferson at 515-386-2138 to receive the access link information.
