Tasler (right) being recognized for 40 years of service from last January
The Greene County Board of Supervisors are moving forward with appointing a replacement for County Recorder.
The current Recorder is Marcia Tasler and she will be retiring on October 31st. The Supervisors discussed their options to fill the eventual vacancy, including appointment, special election or combing the Recorder and Auditor’s offices. The Supervisors settled on filling the vacancy by appointment.
A resolution was approved by the Board at their most recent meeting this past Monday of their intention to fill the vacancy by appointment. The resolution stipulated that the Board intends to appoint the current Deputy Recorder, Deb McDonald, to be the next Recorder. The public notice of intention for the appointment must be published no more than 20 days and not fewer than four days before the appointment is officially made on November 2nd. County Attorney Thomas Laehn said the public could petition for a special election up to 14 days after the appointment is made.
The appointment is to fill the remaining two years of the four-year term through 2022. Click the link below to see the full resolution of the intent to appoint.
