The Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library in Guthrie Center has recently expanded their hours for the public to use their services, though there are still restrictions in place to protect against the spread of COVID-19.
The library is now open Monday through Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Library Director Pat Sleister reminds patrons that face masks are still required, and visitors are encouraged to keep time spent in the library at 30 minutes maximum. Though the library has taken away puzzles, puppets, Legos, and other activities due to their increased sanitation practices, Sleister applauds the respect shown by patrons during the pandemic, “I’ve been very impressed with the way people have reacted to it. They’ve just been very cooperative and we appreciate that. We just want everybody to be safe but we want people to be able to do things too. And we know there’s times when we can really help out with problems so we’re trying to do our best but we’re trying to keep everybody safe.”
Sleister also mentions that the Taylor Meeting Room is available by reservation only for $25, though masks are required with a maximum capacity of 20 people. More information on COVID-19 protocols and other programming can be found on the library’s website.
