For the first time, the public will see the newly installed lights shine on the Raccoon River Valley Trail bridge in Adel.

Over the last two years, 66 color-changing LED lights were installed on the bridge and the approaches where the trail crosses the Raccoon River. Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Bengston says she thinks the public will be very impressed with the final product. Bengston adds that she’s excited to be able to show off the hard work that’s been put into this, “The sky’s the limit on what we want to do with the bridge, and how we want to light the bridge going forward. It’s going to create an entrance not only to our City along the Raccoon River Trail but as you’re coming in town on Highway 6; you’re not going to be able to miss seeing this bridge lit up at night.”

The lights will officially be turned on tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. Due to concerns over COVID-19, there will not be a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, but the bridge will be visible from the trail and on Highway 6.
