A Perry man was arrested early Saturday morning after a bomb threat incident occurred outside the police department.
According to Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn, at about 1:46 a.m. 46-year-old Justin Scott Pierschbacher entered the department lobby concealing his left hand in his coat saying he had something in his pocket. Officers then met him in the parking lot where Pierschbacher made comments about having some type of activator for an explosive device, and he refused to show officers his left hand, keeping it in his coat. Officers from the police department, Dallas and Boone county sheriff’s offices and Woodward Police Department negotiated with him for about two hours until he finally complied with officers’ instructions. Officers found that the suspect didn’t have the alleged device. He was taken into custody without further incident at about 3:30 a.m. and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class D felony. Vaughn comments that all the officers on scene did a tremendous job to resolve the situation peacefully and without further incident or injury.
