There’s a Guthrie County showdown tonight in Panora.

The AC/GC Chargers will be making the quick trip to face off against a familiar foe in Panorama. The Panthers have had quite the advantage throughout the last 12 seasons. Panorama is 8-0 against AC/GC and Guthrie Center since 2008. Panorama has outscored AC/GC 292-99 in that span. Last years matchup featured two 7-1 teams fighting for a likely playoff spot, Panorama scored early and often taking home a 48-8 victory in Guthrie Center.

AC/GC comes in 2-3, coming off a 46-12 loss to Van Meter. They’ll lean heavily on their backfield that’s been led by Gavin Cornelison who leads the team with 492 rushing yards and 10 trips to paydirt. Charlie Crawford is not far behind with 477 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Chargers have also counted on speedster Cayden Jensen. The junior has 68 of the teams 161 receiving yards. Jensen has been explosive in all phases as he’s come up with an interception and an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

This year Panorama will lean heavily on senior quarterback Dominic Walker who has been dominant throughout the season. Walker enters the contest with 1,291 all-purpose yards, which is good for second in the State. Walker has 1,061 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and 230 yards on the ground with two more scores. To put that in perspective, there are nine teams in Class 1A who don’t have as many yards as Walker does as an individual.
