The Perry School District received a $100,000 donation to build a mini soccer pitch.

The donation comes from Kick it Forward, a non-profit organization that seeks to increase accessibility to soccer for kids in Iowa. So far the organization has been building 10 mini soccer pitches throughout the state. The pitch will be made of a synthetic material that’s softer than a typical blacktop. The equipment includes a light pole, fencing, and two built-in goals. The size of the field is 60 by 120 feet. The School Board accepted the donation during a special meeting Monday. Construction could begin as soon as this fall with the installation of fencing and lighting, while the rest of the pitch will likely be completed in the spring. It’ll be built on the east side of Perry Elementary School. The only cost to the District is the electrical infrastructure, which is estimated to cost around $5,000.
