Greene County went 0-2 in best two-of-three volleyball matches last night in Story City at the Roland-Story Tournament. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team lost to Class 3A top 12 ranked R-S 10-21 and 13-21. Then came a loss in three to PCM (Monroe) 21-10, 14-21, 10-15.

Brianna Osterson had seven kills vs. PCM and three vs. R-S. She also recorded four digs vs. the Mustangs. Lily Muir had three kills vs. R-S and four digs against PCM. Bella Schroeder had three kills vs. the Norsemen. Natalie Heupel had three digs and a five of six serving night vs. R-S. Katrina Heupel was four of five serving vs. PCM with three ace serves. Emma Hoyle went 11 of 12 serving with three aces vs. PCM and four of five from the service line with the lone team ace vs. R-S. Eliza Carlson was four of four serving against R-S and 11 of 12 against PCM with a pair of ace serves.

The two high schools in Greene County both have volleyball matches scheduled for tonight. Paton-Churdan is home in Churdan vs. CAM (Anita) in Rolling Valley Activities Conference play while Greene County has a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference match in State Center vs. West Marshall.

WM is in the HOIAC for the second time. It’s been a dozen years since the Trojans were HOIAC members. They were 15-21 last season with seven seniors on the roster in 2019. This year, WM has a record of 7-15 while the Rams are 4-9.

P-C stands at 3-3 while CAM is 15-3.
