Monday, September 28th

8:27am: A caller advised that a German Shepherd was loose on the owner’s property at 307 East Vest Street. The officer checked and found the animal had not left its property, so no violations of ordinances had occurred.

9:54am: Vicki Nation reported cattle in the roadway near Grimmell and Russell Streets. The owner was contacted and put the cattle back in the pasture.

10:26am: People’s Bank reported Criminal Mischief at 116 West State Street. Halloween decorations and a pumpkin had been removed from a planter.

11:10am: An officer removed a deceased opossum from the yard at 609 South Cedar Street and disposed of the carcass.

1:52pm: Chuck Foster reported the Theft of a flag and flagpole from 307 West State Street. The flag had been removed from the porch of the residence.

2:52pm: Danielle Baron reported a Suspicious Male in a vehicle following her near Russell and Walnut Streets. She provided a Registration Plate number. The officer made contact with the male a short time later. He advised he was driving through the park areas trying to find a place to walk his dog. He apologized for making anyone uncomfortable while doing so.

3:06pm: Malissa Brooks requested an officer at Shelter Stor-All for a dispute with her boyfriend. The two were arguing over property in the storage units. The officer worked to diffuse the issue.

3:45pm: An officer began an investigation into a possible No Contact Order Violation, per the county attorney.

5:35pm: Casey’s General Store reported the Theft of Alcohol from 508 North Elm Street. A male subject entered the business to pay for his fuel and left. A customer advised the male had stolen a bottle of whiskey from the shelf. The officer is working with the business to view footage from the cameras. The investigation continues.

8:28pm: Carroll County reported two vehicles eastbound on 220th Street, appeared to be racing. It was reported they were driving side by side. The officer did not locate the vehicles enter the city.

******** Justin Michael Cosnotti, 35 of Jefferson has had additional charges added recently. Arrest Warrants have been gathered for, “Dominion/Control of Firearm by party of Protective Order – D Felony, Harassment 1st Degree – Aggravated, Tampering with a Witness – Aggravated, Violation of Protective Order – Simple(23 Counts), Interference with Official Acts – Simple, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple.” The charges stem from an investigation into Cosnotti violating a protective order numerous times. The order is in place to protect an assault victim, who is also his ex-girlfriend.
