The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, County Attorney Thomas Laehn addressed the Board. He asked the Board if he could move forward with moving the case management documents to the cloud with Pro Law instead of uploading the program locally to the county servers. The Board agreed and gave authorization to move forward with a contract.
Also during an open forum, County Sheriff Jack Williams asked the Board if he could purchase an additional vehicle for the sheriff’s office. Due to hiring a ninth deputy, Williams said the extra vehicle in his fleet was given to that position, leaving his office one vehicle short for prison transport. Williams was looking into buying a new truck that will become a patrol vehicle, and then he would transition a higher mileage vehicle as the new transport vehicle. To purchase a new truck and outfit it with the proper equipment would be over $60,000. Williams noted that the funds are not in his budget, but the Board agreed to move forward and will find the funds to pay for it.
The Board then approved a beer permit for the Paton Pit Stop, as well as amending an assessment for drainage district 191 to $312,994 for a 90.3-percent assessment rate. Additionally, the Board approved to abate the property taxes for two City of Jefferson-owned properties, including the former Angie’s Tea Garden for $1,574 and the former Air Temp building for $3,352 as presented.
Finally, the Board discussed whether to appoint or hold a special election for the County Recorder’s position, due to the impending retirement of current Recorder Marcia Tasler. Following the discussion, the Board decided to appoint an individual as recorder to fill the rest of the terms through 2022.
